This bicycle is a clear example of what we call a "Special Project", as it is a project that distances itself from our standar offer.
Alexandre in Switzerland had clear ideas of his needs: a Rohloff equipped bike with a classic cut, that is, a frame built with the smallest possible tubes, a horizontal top tube, classic straight external bearing headset, etc. In addition, he needed 2 big baskets (front and rear), custom built with the exact dimensions to carry, each basket, 2 paper shopping bags which, apparently, have a standardized size. He also wanted to be able to remove these baskets and use the racks that support them to mount side panniers on the weekends and holiday trips.
Alexander participated a lot in the creative process, perhaps due to his profession as an Architect, with proposals such as the parallelism of certain tubes of the racks with the fork and the seat stays, or even the type of wood that had to be used for the base of the baskets, which had to be resistant to water and the sun without the need for any treatment (for this we had to go to a boat builder in a coastal town near Barcelona).
As usual with special projects, the time dedicated to make it happen has been countless, but the satisfaction of being able to make a client's specific dreams come true, in addition to the fun that always involves facing different challenges, makes up for it.
